Getting it Down Cold Workshops proudly presents this 185 page special book, a reprint of Karl W. Gehrkens Music Notation and Terminology first published in 1914. 

Although  some of the terms have been modified over the years, this is a great compilation of the history and notation that is still used today.

This book covers the majority of the terms you will run across in your study and playing present day songs and especially the works of the past.

When you run across those terms that you don't know what they mean this book will be the place you can turn to and is digitally searchable.
You also get 10 MB of graphic and sound files that go with the book. If there is an example in the book there is likely a midi (sound) file or graphic you can open for a closer look.

Notes Workshop

Learning about notes is one of the first things you have to do to read and play music. 90% of us that play have to read and play with sheet music.

Getting it Down Cold Workshops is about getting to know your notes down cold and is an absolute necessity if you are going to learn masterpieces or be able to play with other musicians.

This workshop starts you off right. There are three areas covered in the workshop and 4 important sections.

Note Names and locations

The first introductory work set is about the piano notes. Learn how they are named, how to easily remember their location, sharp and flat notes, and the patterns of the keyboard.

Knowing these notes on the piano is a great way to relate a visual cue to using other instruments.

Master Staff

Mastering the master staff work set provides a fun and great way to learn the master staff. Shapes and patterns are used to allow you to gain this basic knowledge that all other music elements will use in a fun and exciting way.

Intervals

Intervals are one of the most glossed over parts of working in music theory.  This part of the workshop breaks the interval study into two parts. It's designed for the beginning or intermediate music enthusiast who doesn't know their major and minor intervals down cold.
